Testing our first BLOG entry

So what is all this stuff about 'BLOG's anyway? Hopefully it's a useful way to keep everybody at home informed about what we're up to un South America while we're away.

Anybody can open the page http://tobyandmeris.blogspot.com and get all the latest stories and pictures.

Well seeing as we don't actually leave Cape Town until 12 August, I guess this is a bit premature! Although we are already into the swing of things - we have bought the planes tickets (Jo'burg - Sao Paolo - Houston - San Francisco - Vancouver - Seattle - Honalulu - Tokyo - Kuala Lumpur - Jo'burg!), as well as loads of new camping gear (tent, sleeping bags, camping stove etc.), and the latest gadgetry required for modern-day backpackers (digital camera & iPod photo 60Gb with iTrip). So we haven't even left, and it has already cost us a fair whack!

Anyway, we'll add some more shortly before we leave, and then we'll have regular(ish) updates during the trip...
